when I got to his house I didn't want to sit on his bed. he showed me his room and I sat on the floor. he probably though it was weird but I didn't want to come off as too aggressive.
he played the guitar for me. acoustic and electric. he asked me to sing with him and I did, even though I don't like to sing in front of other people.
then he started a movie. he told me that it was okay to sit on his bed so I did. it took him a while to hold my hand and when he did neither of us acknowledged it but we knew what was going on.
the movie wasn't stellar, I kept guessing what was going to happen. I laughed when he laughed so he would think I though it was funny.
when his parents came home he wanted me to meet them. I helped him unload groceries from their car. I sat on the couch with them while they talked about their plans for the week. his dad asked me if I was Jewish and I said "no I'm a Christian," and he said, "oh a Christian?" and I said "yes."
he made popcorn and I spilled a bunch of it on the floor. "hey here's another pro tip: popcorn usually goes in your mouth," he said with a laugh and a big smile. I laughed and threw the spilled popcorn in the trash can.
"I've never met a boy's parents before," I told him when we got back to his room. “really?" he said. I nodded.
he asked me if I wanted to go with him to his friends house for a bonfire. we went.
he taught me how to play pool because I had never played it before. I felt bad because he was really good and I made our team lose because I didn't get one ball in a pocket.
then his friends set up tables for beer pong. I asked him if he drank and he said no very firmly. we realized that his friends filled up the cups with water so that we (the only two underage people there) could still play. they all drank from beer cans. I turned out to be surprisingly decent at it.
his friends were very nice. they seemed to care about him very much.
when he drove me home we listened to country music. he parked and we got out of the car. he hugged me real right and kissed me. he held my hand when he walked me to the door. I was humming the country song that was playing in the car. he kissed me again at the door and said good bye.
thus concludes the best first date I've ever been on. hopefully there'll be a second. and a third. and a fourth.
:)
